Here are some of the highlights:
Tuesday, November 24 (in addition to my daughter Alexis' birthday and my grand daughter's 2 month birthday) We had an amazing experience as Elder and Sister Stevenson came to the Taiwan Taipei Mission. We had the rare opportunity to meet all together and listen to a member of the Quorum of the Seventy. It was such an incredible treat! We learned about our "white handbook of blessings" and the doctrine of obedience which brings blessings which brings happiness. We learned how to go PRO through Prayer, Reading, and Obedience. Our missionaries shared some amazing musical talents as well. It was a day that you just want to keep thinking about again and again.
Thursday, November 26 (also Thanksgiving)
We had a wonderful lunch at Silver Wings Restaurant. Instead of turkey, we enjoyed duck among many other great dishes. We had the opportunity of eating with Elder and Sister Stevenson (and their son who is just finishing his mission in the Taiwan Taichung Mission), President and Sister Blickenstaff, as well as a wonderful family who was just sealed in the Taipei Temple. What an incredible experience to get to share in this day with them. Their story is so inspiring.
Later on Thursday, we got to spend some time with the wonderful members at the Taiwan Service Center where they cooked a "Thanksgiving dinner" as well if not better than any we have had in the US! Walking through the Service Center Thanksgiving evening was such a treat. Many of the missionaries who serve in wards that meet here decided to host a dinner and invite members to bring their friends for a Temple Visitor's Center Tour. The building was packed! We often marvel at the way that this building is used here in Taiwan. I have never been inside when it wasn't filled with members and their families. There are children laughing, pianos being played, choirs practicing, meetings taking place, missionaries teaching, and of course temple visitor's center tours. (Oh! and I almost forgot... basketball being played!!)
Friday, November 27
MLC for all Zone Leaders and Sister Training Leaders. Lunch followed by more training. This is where the mission has an opportunity to council and discuss ways that we can improve and strengthen the work here. We as a famiy also had the treat of eating dinner with Elder Wong (from the Asia Area Presidency) at one of our favorite restaurants (Din Tai Fung).
Saturday and Sunday, November 28-29
We got to attend the Taipei South Stake Conference. Elder Wong presided, and taught us so much. He is an incredible teacher!
